The American National Standard for PERSONAL TRANSPORT VEHICLES (PTVs): vehicles driven by electric motors or internal combustion engines to be operated on designated roadways, or within a closed community, where permitted by law or by a regulatory authority. This is the standard for a cart used off the golf course — ANSI/OPEI Z130.1 explicitly does not cover them. It excludes hybrid vehicles and vehicles designed to transport persons with disabilities. Current edition 2020; previously designated ANSI/ILTVA Z135.
