Golf Cart Power Index is an independent, informational database about golf carts, street-legal low-speed vehicles and utility carts — and their batteries, chargers, certifications and safety recalls. Everything here is published for general information.

We are not a manufacturer, retailer, importer, repairer, testing laboratory, certification body, or insurer. We do not sell, service, install or certify any product described on this site, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any manufacturer, brand or regulator mentioned.

Our records are assembled from manufacturers’ own published pages and documentation, official government product-safety sources, and — where nothing stronger is available — vendor or marketplace listings. Government sources currently include Health Canada, Product Safety Australia, the European Commission’s Safety Gate, the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Transport Canada.

Those organisations are independent of us. We cite and link to them; we do not speak for them, and we do not reproduce their databases. Where we show a source link, it is provided so you can check the original for yourself, and we encourage you to do exactly that.

We make good-faith efforts to record information accurately and to improve it over time, and we try to be explicit about how strong the evidence behind a given statement is. Even so:

• Information can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong.
• Products change. Manufacturers revise specifications, part numbers and compatibility without notice, sometimes within a model year.
• A record may describe one regional version of a product while yours differs.
• Our coverage is uneven. Some records have been checked closely; others rest on a single source and are clearly weaker.
• Absence of information here is not evidence of anything. It usually means we have not verified it yet.

We do not warrant that any record is complete, accurate or current, and we do not undertake to update any particular record.

Batteries, chargers and electrical systems carry real risks, including fire. Compatibility, charging, certification, recall and technical information on this site must not be used as the sole basis for a safety-critical decision.

Before buying, fitting, charging, modifying or continuing to use a battery, charger or vehicle, confirm the details with the manufacturer, an authorised dealer, a qualified technician, and the relevant safety authority. If a product may be subject to a recall, follow the regulator’s own instructions, not ours.

Where we describe a battery as compatible with a vehicle, we are reporting what a source states and labelling how strong that evidence is — for example, whether the manufacturer documented it or a vendor asserted it. We do not test products, and a compatibility record is not a guarantee of fit, function or safety.

Where a source explicitly states that a battery is not compatible with a vehicle, we record that separately and show it as an incompatibility. A product not appearing in either list simply means we have no evidence either way.

We reproduce recall and safety information from official sources and link back to each notice. Matching a regulator’s notice to a product in our catalogue is an imperfect process, so we only present a match publicly when the evidence is strong, and we say plainly when no matching notice was found in the data available to us.

“No matching recall was found” means exactly that — it is not a statement that a product is safe, unrecalled, or free of defects. Always check the relevant regulator directly.

Where we record a certification such as UL 2271 or ANSI/OPEI Z130.1, we are recording that a source states the claim. We have not confirmed those claims against the certifying bodies’ own registers, and we do not certify anything ourselves. One standard never implies another: a battery certified to UL 2271 says nothing about whether the complete cart meets ANSI/OPEI Z130.1, and neither says anything about whether the vehicle is a low-speed vehicle under FMVSS No. 500.
